As a native of Texas, Dr. Russell attended medical school at UT Southwestern in Dallas. He came to Nashville for Emergency Medicine residency at Vanderbilt University. After spending 3 years in Nashville, he and his family decided to make Tennessee home. He has been a member of MTEP and worked at Ascension St Thomas hospitals since 2008. As core faculty of the UTHSC EM residency he enjoys teaching EKG interpretation. He has been chair of the Patient Safety Council at St Thomas Rutherford since 2015 and is currently the President of Middle TN Emergency Physicians. Dr. Russell is married with 3 kids, and lives on a small farm in Nolensville where he enjoys working on his grandfather’s antique tractor, raising chickens with his daughter, and keeping honey bees with his son.
